The stories themselves are simple and sweet, aimed at children aged 3 and under. Each book espouses all of the characteristics about the monkey or the bear that are loved by the reader - I think these books would be especially appealing to parents or loved ones who call their child by "monkey" or "bear" as a term of endearment.

These books could also be good for traveling since they are on the smaller side and come with a companion toy; each book features a small plush toy that can fit in the palm of your hand and comes affixed to the back cover of the book with a clear elastic band that can be reused to hold the toy until the next time. The one drawback is that that the back cover is twice the height of the rest of the book which makes it a tad awkward for tucking into a bag or placing it with other books on a bookshelf.

Both books are filled with praise and love for the main character such as "your hugs and kisses are the best" or "You're sweet as can be" and are simple enough that they would hold a small child's attention at bed time or nap time.
