Migraines and Pregnancy....

Day 5 of this ferocious migraine. I am not impressed. I am finding it difficult to get the through the days already with the tiredness etc, and now this migraine is making it even harder! I am allergic to Tylenol which the doctor has informed is the only thing I could take while pregnant, so I am left with drinking water to make sure I'm hydrated enough. It is not enough. In the theme of the season, I feel like my head is a pumpkin and someone is scraping out the insides while the front of my head is carved in a grimace of pain. It is getting to be a little too much for me to handle. I'm tempted to take time off work until it goes away, but I already have a concert (wish me luck with that!) lined up for Wednesday night in another city that will make me have to take two days off work. So can I grit my teeth through one more day of work, and then the concert? Well I think I am going to have to because I'm not sure I have much of a choice.

Life has gotten kind of overwhelming lately with all the things I have to do, and don't have the energy for! I keep thinking that I will be able to pick up where I left off when I feel better, but I am on week fifteen and I'm not feeling any better! When do I suck it up and plug through my homework and other responsibilities?? I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a mild panic attack about how my homework is never going to get done, and a filing job my boss asked me to do after hours. I'm going to get kicked out the of the course pretty quick if I don't get something worked out soon! I was doing so well before I got pregnant and I was organized and efficient, and now I'm a space cadet and thoroughly inefficient.

I don't even have the energy to want to go to this concert that I have had planned for months! I would rather stay home and sleep, but I am thankful that at least I can take two days off work. I do think it's kind of neat that the baby will get introduced to music that I love even before it's born :) I wonder if that will influence them at all at this point in their young lives?

I am also wondering how everyone feels about the H1N1 vaccine? I do not want to get it, but I'm curious how everyone else is making their decisions about it? I know pregnant women are supposed to get it first, but I am so nervous about introducing something that is so new and barely tested to my body and the baby.

Also, can an experienced blogger let me know how to make comments on another's post? It won't let me do them for some reason.

I hope everyone is healthy and happy, and I apologize for such a bummer of a post, but it certainly feels good to get it out.

PS. Congratulations to the new Puppy Adoptions this week!

  1. I am not pregnant, but I am not getting the H1N1 vaccine. I got the regular flu vaccine, but decided not to get the H1N1. It just makes me nervous since it's so new. I deal with migraines too so I feel your pain! Hope the migraine goes away soon for you!

  2. Ouch! Sorry about your migrane. :-(

I'm getting the H1N1 vaccine next week. I was a little bit hesitant, but as a friend mentioned when we were discussing it, it's not really any "newer" than the new, barely tested flu shots that come out every single year (they are basically new each year, and the H1N1 is just another new version). The other thing is that my fear of catching the flu is much greater than my fear of the vaccine. If I caught the H1N1 flu right now, it could almost definitely be deadly to these babies. The vaccine? Probably not. I'm willing to go with the "probably not" over the "almost definitely". Sure it's a risk either way, but to me, one of them is far less risky than the other.

About the commenting - someone else was having this problem a while back (she couldn't comment from her home computer no matter what browser she used, but could comment from other computers) and she discovered it was somehow related to her virus protection, which apparently is a little TOO protective lol. I don't know if that's the same problem you're having - can you comment from a different computer?

  3. Week 16 is when things turned around for me. I was so tired the first while that I could barely function! Weeks 16-26 were great and then I got so huge it was awful! Lol.
I came here to comment about the H1N1 vaccine and was going to type exactly what Bibliosaur said re: no newer than the regular flu shot!

  4. About leaving comments I have a hard time too. What I have to do is write my comment then pick the google account from the drop down box then hit post comment. It will tell me there is an error and I hit post comment again and then it will show my comment with my google id then I hit post comment again and it will work. It sounds like a lot but its really not. P.S. hope your migranes get better.

  5. Thanks everyone! I am surprised by my reaction to the H1N1 vaccine... I am not scared of needles, but terrified of this vaccine. When I had a flu shot (the only time) I got the flu more times and with more severity than any of the years I didn't get a shot. I don't know if that was just a coincidence or not. I wouldn't get this vaccine if I weren't pregnant, but I feel like I am being swayed by the fear that the media is imposing with this flu. I think I am going to have to do even more research.

Thanks for the ideas about leaving comments too I will try everything!

  6. I hope your migraine eases up and you have a great time at the concert. My view is the same as Bilbliosaur on the H1N1 vaccine. I will be getting the vaccine pretty soon - just waiting for AF to show up first!
