OMG, look what I got!

Thank you for all the baby dust because it worked! It still hasn't really sunk in yet and I'm painfully aware that it is still very early and a lot can happen. But for now, I want to try to stay optimistic and hopeful that baby #1 is really on the way!

Because I'm impatient like that, I tested yesterday at 10DPO, fully expecting to get a BFN. Actually, the reason I decided to test was because DH was going to collect a "specimen" yesterday for SA and I didn't want him to have to do it if by chance I was KU. (I don't think he was so thrilled about doing it mostly because he was wondering "how" he would do it. Meaning, how do you make sure it goes in the cup?) So I just used a cheapy Dollar Tree test first. I put my 4 drops of urine into the well and initally nothing showed up. So I took it downstairs and made myself a bowl of cereal. Then I checked it again. I blinked a few times, not really sure of what I was seeing. I saw something - a very faint line. I had used a Dollar Tree test before where I saw absolutely nothing in the test area, so I knew what a BFN looked like. I took my test to the window to check it out in better light. There was definitely something there. I wasn't convinced that it wasn't an evaporation line, though. I checked on the internet for info on evaportation lines. I couldn't tell if the line was pink, but it definitely wasn't grey or colorless. I decided to go pick up an FRER after my dentist appointment. When I got home, I POAS. Again, super faint line. Again, I wasn't convinced that it was even pink. I thought maybe my eyes were deceiving me. I kept staring at it and by the end of the night I was pretty sure it was pink and pretty convinced I was KU. But DH wasn't convinced. So this morning I used FMU and busted out the digital CBE test. We really just needed it spelled out for us. We can't deny it now - it says "Pregnant"!

Now I have to figure out whether or not to tell people at work or lie and say I'm not pregnant when they ask. Because they will ask. In fact, someone asked me the other day. And since a lot of people know that we're trying, I'm sure someone will ask me again soon. There are already 3 people at work who have announced pregnancies in the last month! Part of me really wants to wait until the second trimester. I'll tell a few close friends, but honestly, I don't even know if I want to tell our families yet. Not until I know things are going well, at least.

As far as symptoms, so far I don't really have any. I have been a lot hungrier in the past week and my nipples were a bit more sensitive than normal until a couple days ago. (They usually are around when I O, but this time it continued longer than normal.) I've also been bloated and gassy, but that's not really unusual for me because I have a pretty sensitive stomach and am lactose and sorbitol intolerant.

Anyways...time for me to sit back and soak it all in. It totally doesn't feel real to me and it probably won't until we at least hear a heartbeat. Of course, I'll keep you all updated on my progress. And please send lots of sticky baby dust my way!

Bibliosaur - I'm thinking about you and hoping you get your BFP, too! Sorry if my impatience makes you even more impatient! Obviously, I have way less self control than you do.

  1. Congrats! So far the Pregosaurs seem like a really fertile bunch. Bibliosaur- I hope this is true for you, too!

I'd personally wait to tell anyone until you can get in to see the doctor and get everything checked out. Once they confirm the pregnancy I'd tell family and those close to you, just so someone doesn't accidentally oust you on Facebook or something (which I've heard happens a lot).

Congrats, again! Lots of *stick baby dust* coming your way!

  3. WOOHOO!!! Congratulations! I agree with Rockasaur - I'd wait to spread the news until you get some blood tests (which I'm sure will be positive!), and then you can shout it from the rooftops!

  5. Hooray! Congrats! I agree with the others...wait until you at least have it confirmed by the doctor, just in case. My rule of thumb? I haven't told anyone that I would simply dread "un-telling." So only close friends and family...and one coworker (she's totally trustworthy though...she has 3 daughters my age). I am so excited for you! And how lucky that you're not having any bad symptoms...let's hope it stays that way.
